Dave was already a Stock Car champion at San Jose Speedway, but he switched over to Antioch when Regional points were introduced in 1982. The battles he had between himself, JD Willis and Jim Pettit II are legendary. They had the fans coming back every week to see what would happen next.
He won the 1982 and 1983 track championships by just 10 total points over Willis. He also finished 4th in 1984 and 8th a year later. Dave won the prestigious NASCAR Regional championship in 1983 and had won 18 Main Events by the time he moved on to pavement racing. He won several championships on the circuit after leaving Antioch.
