From Marv's Wife:
Marv began racing at Antioch Speedway in 1975 and retired at the end of the 1979 season.
Marv sets goals for himself and works extremely hard to achieve them. He likes a challenge and continually chases new and innovative ways to achieve his objective.
Although racing at various tracks during his first four years, his principal focus was Antioch Speedway.
His first year he finished 9th in standings, capturing his first of many trophy dashes and was awarded Rookie of the year honor.
His second year he finished 6th at Antioch, 13th in State and capturing his first of many main events.
His third year he finished 3rd at Antioch, 9th in State and one step closer to his eventual goal.
His fourth year he won the Antioch Track Championship while finishing 3rd in State standings.
His fifth year he raced at both Antioch and Petaluma Speedway while winning the Petaluma Track Championship and finishing 2nd at Antioch behind his very best friend, Dennis Furia. In his last 34 appearances he set fast time 22 times, won 10 trophy dashes, 11 main events while consistently handicapped for qualifying times and starting in the rear of the pack virtually every race.
Beside numerous fast qualifying times, trophy dashes and main events during his tenure, he won the 100-lap Gold Cup Race, the 100-lap Pacific Coast Race and two out of three 200-lap Endurance Races. And was honored with the Best Appearing Car and Pit Crew four out of five years.
Since retiring from racing, his love for cars continues and the challenge of building vintage street rods is compelling. He is currently engineering and building a rare 1935 Ford Sedan Delivery with up-to-date modern conveniences including an all computerized LS3 and 4L65E transmission.
