Gene Dothage
Gene competed in the class at a time in which Hall of Fame racers Bill Brown and Gary Pacheco were a part of the roster. He began making his presence known in the battle in the 1960s and ended up 5th to 1969. After a 9th place season a year later, Gene gave it a serious run.
Drivers had to beat him to win the championship as he finished second from 1971 through 1973. He also racked up 12 Main Event wins. The Dothage family continues to compete to this day. Son Brent Dothage is a Sprint Car champion and grandson Driever Dothage has just started racing Sprint Cars. The family legacy continues on.
