Terry DeCarlo Sr
The DeCarlo family legacy is now three generations deep as his granddaughter, Taylor DeCarlo, joined the Hobby Stocks last season.
Terry first started racing Hardtops in the 1970s at Vallejo Speedway and was a Main Event winner. He started racing Stock Cars at Antioch Speedway in 1983.
Terry had his first Top 10 season in 1984, ranking 7th. After buying the Mike Green car, he picked up his first Main Event win in 1985 and ended up 6th in the standings. A year later, he led the standings for the first part of the season before falling out of competition, but he had his best season a year later in third. Following a Top 10 season in 1988, Terry finished 5th in 1989. He would make the move into the Modifieds after that.
Terry was 7th in 1992 and 9th and 1995. A year later, he had his best effort in third. As son Nick DeCarlo moved into the Modified ranks, Terry took on a part-time racer role as he supported his son in multiple championship efforts at Antioch, Petaluma and Watsonville.
When the Hardtop revival came into being in 2008, Terry teamed up with Tommy Thomson and became a multi time Main Event winner.
In 2018, he won the Chet Thompson Memorial Hardtop race. His crowning achievement may very well be his IMCA Modified feature win in 2021. In that race, he ran wheel to wheel with sons Nick and Terry Jr before winning the race at 79 years old. He has six Modified wins and four Late Model wins to his credit.
Terry's racing legacy is not just one of the wins and Top 5 trophies he's earned in the standings, but family as well. We are proud to induct him into the Antioch Speedway Hall of Fame.
