Mike Conley Sr
Mike's career took on two parts. In the 1970s, he competed in the Stock Car division and became one of the front runners. He ranked 8th in 1970 before finishing 4th and 1971 and 5th a year later.
He reappeared on the scene in the 1980s with Conley's Machine Shop in the adjoining building next to Antioch Parts Depot. He built motors for several of the competitors and was oftentimes doing it for just the cost of the parts to help his fellow racers. When the Figure 8 was added to the program in 1987, Mike took an interest.
He ranked 8th that year and was 5th in 1989. He finished 8th in 1990. Mike also enjoyed racing with his son, Mike Conley Jr, during that time. He built a reputation as being a fun-loving guy who was there to help his friends.
Mike did have a rebellious side which cost him a few weeks off on a few occasions, so on those weeks he would put other up and coming drivers in his cars like Ray Dietrick, Todd Taddiello, Kent Bickford, and Chris Long to get them started and into the sport
